What is a bulk SSN validator?
Paste up to 200 unique numbers for the same format and reservation rules as SSN Validator, once each token is nine digits. Spaces split a list into separate entries. For one number, use SSN Validator.
Paste up to 200 unique Social Security Numbers. Each row gets a format class in your browser. For a single number, use the SSN Validator.
Same reservation rules as SSN Validator once a token is nine digits. Built for lists: paste, review classes, copy or clear. No names, and not SSA SSNVS.
Paste a list and get instant results. The list never leaves this tab.
Paste the list
Keep each number together as AAA-GG-SSSS or nine digits. Commas, semicolons, and new lines separate entries. Spaces also split entries, so 521 45 6789 becomes three short tokens.
We read the first 200 unique values
Duplicates are skipped. The list never becomes a result URL.
Read the results
Possible, impossible, ITIN/ATIN, sample, or incomplete. Possible means the digits follow published rules.
Copy or clear
Copy summary puts each number, class, and note on a tab-separated line. Clear the box to drop the list from the page.
Copy one column of numbers from Excel, Google Sheets, or a CSV export and paste it here. Commas, semicolons, and line breaks separate entries. Hyphens inside a number are fine. Keep the nine digits of one SSN in the same cell. If a cell is only letters, or has more than nine digits after stripping, that token is incomplete or too many digits.
This tool reads the first 200 unique values in paste order. Duplicates are skipped so you do not waste rows on repeats. After you check a list, Copy summary is ready to paste back into a sheet or a ticket. Nothing is stored after you leave the page.
Each row is a class, not a badge of issuance. Possible means the digits follow published rules.
| Class | What it means | What it is not |
|---|---|---|
| Possible | Reservation rules passed | Not proof SSA assigned the number |
| Impossible | Reserved area, group, or serial | Cannot be a Social Security Number |
| ITIN/ATIN | 9xx with published IRS groups | Not an SSN. See SSN vs ITIN vs EIN |
| Sample | A listed public advertising number | Not a number we certify as unused |
| Incomplete | Fewer than nine digits after stripping, or a split fragment | Not classified as possible or impossible |
SSA’s Social Security Number Verification Service matches a name and SSN for Form W-2. Registered employers can check up to 10 names per screen, or upload a file of up to 250,000 and usually get results the next government business day. See the SSNVS restrictions.
Many teams use a local format pass to fix obvious typos before they build an official upload. Run impossible and incomplete rows through your source system first. SSNVS expects lawful wage-reporting use and a name on every line. We do not take a name, query Numident, or return “verified.” The longer comparison of official channels is the validation vs verification guide.

Yes. No account and no fee. The list stays in that browser tab.
No. SSNVS is a registered employer service that matches a name and SSN for Form W-2. Employers can check up to 10 names on screen or upload a file of up to 250,000 and usually get results the next government business day. We do not take a name and we do not query SSA.
Classification runs in this tab. We do not upload the list, store it, or put digits in the URL. Still use a device you trust, and do not paste someone else’s numbers.
Copy one column of numbers and paste it into the box. Keep each SSN as AAA-GG-SSSS or nine digits. Commas, semicolons, and new lines separate entries. Spaces also split entries, unlike the SSN Validator field. The first 200 unique values are read. Copy summary then puts each number, class, and note on a tab-separated line you can paste back into a sheet.
This is a local format scan, not a payroll-file processor. Employers with a lawful wage-reporting need use SSNVS.
No. IRS TIN Matching is for payers matching names to TINs. It is not the same as an in-browser SSN format check.
